Vijayawada: Union Ministry Of Power-led Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has decided to launch its energy efficiency demonstration from Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi in the first phase and later replicate it at the bhavans owned by other States.
This is part of BEE's nationwide initiative towards focusing on energy efficiency measures in various bhavans of the States situated in New Delhi. On behalf of Director General of BEE Abhay Bhakre, Secretary of BEE RK Rai held a meeting at AP Bhavan with Principal Resident Commissioner of AP and former Chief Secretary Adityanadh Das on energy efficiency measures on Sunday. Joint Director BEE Abhishek Sharma, Additional Commissioner of AP Bhavan NV Ramana Reddy and CEO AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) A Chandrasekhara Reddy were present.
During the meeting, Rai said that BEE has decided to support AP Bhavan in implementing energy efficiency measures as recommended in the investment grade energy audit (IGEA) conducted by APSECM, State Designated Agency of AP with financial assistance from BEE without any burden on AP Bhavan.
Secretary of BEE said that the AP Bhavan will become the first State Bhavan in the NCR to implement energy efficiency measures and contribute towards the national goal of reducing carbon emissions.
“Any State can benefit from increased energy efficiency because it will support its efforts to achieve energy independence, open up new avenues for economic growth and job creation, lower their energy bills and lessen their impact on the environment by decreasing their consumption of fossil fuels and emissions of greenhouse gases,” he said.
“With the advent of exponential hikes in the costs of different forms of energy, energy audit is manifesting its due importance in every establishment. Energy audit helps to understand more about the ways energy is used in any establishment and helps in identifying areas where energy wastage may occur and scope for improvement exists.
Principal Resident Commissioner of AP Bhavan Das thanked BEE for choosing the bhavan to implement energy efficiency measures in their premises free of cost and assured full cooperation for implementation of the energy efficiency demonstration project. He congratulated APSECM for its proactive approach in implementing energy efficiency programs and achieving the National Energy Conservation Award-2022.
Delhi, being the national capital of India, States and Union Territories have their bhawans or guest houses for proper coordination between the States and the national capital. Among these, AP Bhavan is a Government of AP-owned property. It has accommodation, canteen and auditorium on its premises. AP Bhavan has suites for the Governor and the Chief Minister apart from other rooms for the State Government officials visiting the capital.
Chandrasekhar Reddy briefed that the Investment Grade Energy Audit (IGEA) of AP Bhavan was conducted with the support of financial assistance of BEE, GoI. As per the energy audit conducted by third party energy auditing firm empanelled by BEE, it is estimated to save around 1.96 lakh units of electrical energy per annum worth Rs 39 lakh with reduction of around 139 tonnes of CO 2 emissions. The investment proposed for energy efficiency measures is around Rs.35 lakh with return on investment in just 13 months. APSECM shall put all out efforts to complete the implementation of the project by end of March-2023," he said.
